Phood Photography... or Food Porn...

There are some AMAZING food photographers out there. My fave, and everyone's fave, of course, is Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman . I love that she taught herself, and just messes around till she gets it right. I've been reading her blog for forever and have really seen the improvements. (Not that I know stellar food photography from a hole in the ground.. but the piptures sure is purdy...) Look at this:

I HATE mushrooms with a deep, abiding passion. If mushrooms were the only food left on earth, I'd die. I'd starve to death. But look at that picture. That makes me want to eat mushrooms. Kinda.










Pee-Dub is one of the biggies, though. There are lots of other great food bloggers out there, who take amazing food shots.


American Eater takes pics of his food, every bite he eats, all day every day. It's very spur of the moment, and the pics are awesome!

I love that he gets the surrounding area, wherever he happens to be, who he's with, etc. I worry about him a bit, though, he never seems to eat at home. American Eater, if you ever need a home cooked southern meal, you give me a call, darlin'.









There are a lot of great ones out there.

I am not one of them. I don't have a GREAT camera. I have a good camera. It's an 8mp kodak, if I could find a way to take a picture of it, I would. It's got fancy lenses and apertures and other things I don't know what to do with. I also let my kids play with it and take pics with it, so it's a little banged up.

I don't have fancy editing software, I use Picnik.com, the free version (for now) to edit my pics. I have fun with it, and while they may not be the best pictures ever, I think they do the job of showing what I'm cooking, and the edits make them a little less boring.

Like I said, not awesome, but not too terrible, either! I hope to be able to look back on this post one day and use it as a point of reference - improving both my cooking and photography!
